Chapter 8

I woke up. Everything was blurry. I tried to get up but I collapsed again. I was on something hard and when I thumped it, it had a strange sort of ring to it. It was metal. This ment I had to be in a cage. I turned my head and I saw another object. It was moving but I couldn't really make out the shape.

"Soooooooooooo theeeeeeeeeeeeeeeey gooooooooooooooooooot yooooooooooooooooooou tooooooooooooooo?" said a voice. It was very slow and clearly femenin. I shook my head yes and everything moved real slowly.

"Yoooou dooooon't seeeeeem oooook. Buuut yoou muuust be feeeeling beeettter soon" I waited a couple of seconds. When everything was normal I looked at the other figure. It was a black shewolf with gray paws, had a bit of gray at the end of her tail, her bangs on her head were gray also, and she had a dark blue cloth on her tail. She also had a collar around her neck. I shook my head that I was better to her.

"Ok first I should tell you about me so you can trust me. Also I am very lonely. I have been in here by myself for weeks now" I could see that she was indeed lonely. Her fur had lost it's shine long ago. I tried to talk back but relised that what ever was on my muzzle was still there so I couldn't talk. I let out a whine.

"Oh they left the zip thing on didn't they. What was it called? Zip, zip, zip, zip, oh zip tie. It has like a little thing in the end that holds it together. Doesn't it hurt? They put it on way to tight! I mean when they first got me I was in tears. I mean they were like crazy mean to me"

I let out a grunt that indicated she could tell me about herself. "Oh ok. I guess since you can't talk I will. Ok first don't try to escape. It hurts like hell. Ok on that note you can't change into you human form for this building surpresses that ability. Also don't try to break through the bars and exit the building. See this thing around my neck" She indicated to it with her paw and eyes. "It is the cause of the pain. They make these for dogs but these ones are stronger just for us. It keeps you from barking, howling, or leaving. You make a loud noise and it shocks you. You try to exit the door and it shocks you. You also have one around your neck. Go ahead make a loud grunt just to see for yourself" I made a grunt and I felt a shocking pain around my neck. I let out a whine of pain.

"See? It hurts a lot. Second, don't attack the humans. They will put you down like they did my brother. Third, they are going to run experiments on us. They want to know how did we survive the blast. All I know is that my pack was living in this city under the protection of are hiding as humans and then the blast came and killed the whole pack while only my brother and I survived. It was so weird. I can see it happened to you also. And finally last but not least. My name is Shadow. Also don't worry. After your first test there going to feed you and then leave. So be happy, it's just about time for testing" She lay down in her cage. I stared at her. She was a wolf but she stayed under the control of the humans.

"Hey I also heard from one of the dogs what happened to you. Your amazing. Even with the wound in your side it took three sleeping doses to totally knock you out" I remembered then walking up as they grabbed me and feeling another poke but I just thrashed again and then I felt a poke again and then finally I slept and ended up here. "That takes some incredible strength and spirit if you ask me"

All of a sudden the door opened to the gray room we were in. The human's walked forward. They opened my cage. I tried to bolt for it but then I was hit with the high pitched noise again. "Oh I forgot to mention that. If they know your trying to escape they use that for it stops all wolves instantly"

All I could think was, "Thanks for the heads up" The human grabbed me by the collar. It choked me for a second but I got up. They attacted a leash to it and pulled me along. I followed reluctently. They took me into a white room. Someone picked me up and layed me on the table in there. I got back up though to show I wasn't affraid of them. Then one of the humans picked up a suit thing and layed the middle of it on my back. I growled but I felt a shock in my neck again. I had to be more quiet. Then the worst part wasn't there.

When the human brought the sides of the harness down I felt a ton of jabs in my sides. I wanted to help but I couldn't. They zipped it up under my chest and belly. I looked at the harness. It had tubes coming from it. They also stuck wires to my chest and head. Also my belly were the harness didn't touch. Then I heard a machine start and very slowly a red liquid started from the harness and up the tubes. They were taking my blood!!!!

I started to feal kind of weak. I lay down on my side. The needles were already in as far as they would go so it didn't hurt any more then it already did. I felt tired and weak. I wanted to vomit but I couldn't. Even if I did it would end up in my mouth. Then a human walked up from behind me (remember I'm still scared and forever will be of humans) This made me jump and I slipped off the table.

I didn't drop to far. I felt a lurch as I fell and I felt more pain in my sides. I was hanging from the machine, from the tubes, from the needles, from my body. I was in an increasing amout of pain. I yowled. This caused the collar to shock me and make me yowl even more. The louder I got the more the pain from the collar increased. I thrashed a bit. The humans were panicing. I let out a loud moan of pain.

"Someone get the vet in here now" yelled a human as others tried to stablise me. I kicked and thrashed. I then relised that one of the needles had gone into my wound. This was causing me the most pain. I yowled higher and higher as the pain from the collar increased. People were rushind outside from the noise. They were trying to get help. The zip tie on my muzzle held firm but the noise was unmastakeable as true pain.

I saw a young laty in a pure white suit walk in with a horrified look on her face. She picked me up from the rest of them men and set me on my side on the table. The men had just been trying to relive the pain from me but they hadn't helped much. I let out little squaks of pain as the collar continued to shock me. The lady looked at the collar and quickly took it off.

"This is bad during testing! See this. It is made to penetrate there thick skin but it still hurts them. You are required to take it off during testing!!!! See that creature. He cried in pain and was attacked for it. In there world they learn from pain and mistakes. Now he thinks that if he cries in pain he will be hurt" The lady put her head in her hand, "When will you people grow up and take responsiblity? Unhook him, put this back on" she handed on of the people the collar, "and take him back to his cage!"

I was unstrapped and collared and taken back to my cage. I was lain in and I was in pain. Shadow just looked at me horrified. I looked at me. I understood why. I was covered in my own blood.
